Good day everyone and welcome to another edition of "THINK ON THESE THINGS". Today we begin part two of our series on "ACTIONS SPEAK". So let's continue;
I. REFUSED THROUGH TURNING AWAY (vs 25)
This verse speaks of the man, Moses, who gave the Law of God to the people of God, the children of Israel. It was Moses who lead God's people;
-from bondage in Egypt
-crossing of Red Sea
-who came to Mt. Sinai and camped in front of the mountain
-and here God called Moses and spoke to him from in front of the mountain. Moses relayed "all these words which the Lord had commanded him" (Ex. 19:7).
"And all the people answered together and said, ‘All that the Lord has spoken we will do!’" (Ex. 19:8).
Were the people of God faithful to HIM or to their own words? It is plain to see in the text in their;
-making of golden calf
-dancing around the calf and saying, "This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt!" (Ex. 32:8).
- 10 spies gave bad report. They had to wander in the wilderness for forty years.
Remember, they had said, "All that the Lord has spoken we will do!" Actions speak LOUDER THAN WORDS!
(Vs 25) It is easy to see and understand that the children of Israel DID refuse Moses as he spoke the words of God. And the people certainly did not escape because, as a penalty, that generation all died in the wilderness and did not go to the Promise Land.
Punishment followed those who refused to listen. (Heb. 3:7-19)
Remember, verse 25 of our text says, "For if those did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less shall we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven."
This is speaking of Jesus as HE has warned from heaven. (Lk. 13:3)
"If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me"
(Lk. 9:23).
-deny self Time – Talent - Tithes.
-take up cross DAILY and Die to sin.
-then turn and follow Me.
On the day that you were saved, you made the good confession: "I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God."
1. What have you done about it since? Have you been,
-faithful in all things?
-witness to the lost?
-serving in HIS church as HIS church?
Remember, actions speak LOUDER THAN WORDS.
2. "I believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the living God." Believing is not a statement as much as it is a lifestyle.
Do you still believe it? Follow through your words with action, this is Faith.
(Vs 25) Remember, "Actions Speak" LOUDER THAN WORDS.
We will end there for today and pick this up next time. May God bless...
