Welcome back to our time of devotion and study of God's Holy Word. Today we will conclude our look at The Tabernacle and begin a new study next week. I do hope this study has been helpful as you continue to serve our Great God. I also want to say that I appreciate the comments I have received as it encourages me to continue on this site. So let's begin;
IX. THE HOLY OF HOLIES REPRESENTS HEAVEN
Behind the veil was a room called the holy of holies where was found the Ark of the Covenant. Whereas the outer court measured 20 cubits by 10 cubits, the holy of holies was square measuring 10 cubits by 10 cubits.
The priest entered only once a year on the Day of Atonement and only by the high priest with blood of the sacrifice offered on the Altar of Burnt Offerings. There the blood was applied to the mercy seat. Therefore the high priest received mercy for his own sins and for the sins of the nation of Israel.
THE HOLY OF HOLIES relates and was a type of heaven itself.
-Presence of God
-Entered by our High Priest for Atonement Hebrews 9:11-12
-Took blood (His own) and applied to every obedient soul
-Received mercy for those obeying the terms of pardon and remaining faithful
X. THE ARK OF THE COVENANT REPRESENTS CHRIST’S COMMANDS
This ark of acacia wood was to be a rectangular chest 2 ½ cubits long, 1 ½ cubits wide, and 1 ½ cubits high, overlaid with pure gold inside and out. According to God's instructions it had a rim of gold around its four sides, though the text does not state whether this was attached at the top or part way down. Four short feet kept it from resting directly on the ground. To each foot was fixed a gold ring through which poles of acacia wood overlaid with gold could be placed in order to transport the ark. Exodus 25:15 states that the poles were to remain permanently in the rings.
To the top of the ark a solid slab of pure gold was to be fixed. This is called the Mercy Seat.
The ark was to be the only furnishing in the most holy place. The stone tablets containing the Ten Commandment were placed inside the ark, along with a jar containing manna and Aaron’s rod was placed inside the ark as well.
Since the Ark of the Covenant contained the Ten Commandment, this would be a foreshadow and type of CHRIST’S COMMANDS.
I once heard that the only thing that ever changes is the calendar. This is certainly true when it comes to the commands of God. A vast majority in our society, evidently, feel that Moses received from God "The Ten Suggestions."
"You shall have no other gods before Me" unless you want to.
"You shall not make for yourself an idol" unless it is your hobby, sports, or your significant other.
"You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain" unless someone makes you mad.
"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy." I will worship on the Lord’s Day unless company comes, I want to go to a game, or just stay in bed.
"Honor your father and your mother," if they always agree with me and give me what I think I deserve.
"You shall not murder," which certainly does not pertain to trying to destroy someone with my mouth.
"You shall not commit adultery," simply does not apply in today’s society and not to me because we are in love.
"You shall not steal," but taking small things is all right.
"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor," but small lies God will certainly overlook.
"You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor," but no one will know what I think in my mind about my neighbor’s possessions, and beside, he does not really need all that stuff anyway.
God meant what He said and certainly says what He means. It is our duty to listen to HIS WORD "AS WRITTEN" and do as He commands. It is for our good and benefit while here on this earth and for our benefit when we leave here for eternity. I would encourage each one reading this to know God's Truth and obey HIM as HE prescribes the plan for our salvation. Believe on HIM, confess HIS Son as the "ONLY" way, not allah or any other false god, repent of not living HIS precepts, be immersed into Christ by faith in HIS commands where God removes the sin from our souls (Colossians 2:12f), and rise to live and serve THE ONE TRUE GOD.
God bless until our next time.
