"What Is The Truth?"

The question, "What is truth?" is often asked by sincere seekers of truth.
Pilate asked Jesus this same question, although he wasn't seeking an answer to his question. (John 18:38). This question is so important that our eternal souls depend on our seeking and finding the correct answer to it. (John 6:68)

I fear that most people believe that there are many truths out there concerning spiritual matters rather than THE Only Truth God has given. There has to be a standard by which mankind must follow. Jehovah God Himself set forth that standard long ago.

The Psalmist tells us, "O Lord, Thy Word is settled in heaven." (Psalm 119:89).
In John 1:14-17, we read, "And the Word (Christ) was made flesh and dwelt among us (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth. For the Law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ."

Where does a person find truth? Can truth be obtained in our lives today? Can truth be understood by all who seek to find it? Absolutely! The Scriptures are abundantly clear on this matter! Truth can be found as well as understood by all who sincerely seek for it!
In John 8:32, Jesus stated, "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
This is as clear as can be! A person needs professional help to misunderstand it. Every sincere heart can know what is truth; and that truth (Jesus Christ) shall make them free.

Again, Jesus speaking said, "Sanctify them in truth; Thy Word is Truth." (John 17:17).
How is a person sanctified according to the Lord and His set standard? First let's define the term sanctification. According to Webster, Sanctify means "to make or declare holy; consecrate; to free from sin; to make legitimate or binding by religious sanction." Only God can declare us Holy and sanctified.

Simply stated it means to set apart from the world. Therefore every single person who sins must be sanctified! And this sanctification can only come through knowing, understanding and obeying God's truth! Jesus saves us, not man, and this through His precious blood!

Truth tells us how to be saved through His blood! Jesus declared in John 14:6, "I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life; NO MAN comes unto the Father, but by ME (THE TRUTH)."
The terms of pardon have already been established by the One who gave His life on the Cross of Calvary for the sins of the world.

Therefore, no earthly person has the authority to change those terms set by God in Christ! In Matthew 28:18, we read, "And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All authority is given unto me in heaven and in earth."

If Jesus has all authority, and He does, both in heaven and in the earth, who in this world can take this authority away from Him and declare new rules in any religious arena?
The fact of the matter is No One!
God has already legislated His laws (HIS TRUTH) through His Holy Son, Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 1:1,2).

Paul said, "Therefore, let no man beguile (spoil, ruin) you through their vain philosophies and their human traditions." (Colossians 2:8).

In other words, don't be fooled by people who mislead you into believing that you can do whatever pleases you when it comes to the things God has already spoken in His Word! Jesus said that if anyone loves Him they will show it by keeping His commandments! (John 14:15).

Ask yourself these two vital questions, please:
(1). What is truth?
(2). Where can truth be found? The answer to these two questions will mean the difference between heaven and hell!
We will conclude this lesson next time...God Bless!!!

" THE DEVIL'S FAITH"

Read James 2:14-26.

John 3:16 is what many refer to as the heart of the N.T. What does it mean?

Instead of looking for the answer in the theology of man, let's search the Scripture for God's explanation!

My Proposition today is this; The devil has faith, he believes that Jesus is the Christ. Yet the devil's faith is not an obedient faith. Will this kind of faith save him? No!

James 2:14 says, "What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?" (NKJV).

We see God's illustration in James 2:15-16 that faith without works will not feed the hungry, neither will it save the lost.

The question is, "Why Not?"

I. Verse 17 says The devil's faith is alone.

That is the devil deceives by separating the word of God and using only parts of it.

He did this with Adam and Eve.

He did so in the temptation of Christ.
He does the same when he separates John 3:16 from James 2.

II. Verse 18 tells us Godly faith is not alone, but with works. You cannot claim a faith that has no evidence it exists.

III. Verse 19 says the Devil's faith makes him tremble.

Why? Because he knows his destiny. Read Revelation 20.

Without a doubt he believes in Christ (Luke 8:26-33).

IV. Verse 20 tells us the Devil's faith is dead,

V. Then in verses 21-23 Gods gives the illustration of Abraham. His obedience was necessary.

VI. Verse 24 says Faith Only is the devil's faith, and is deceptive. Many believe in 'Faith Only' but God says it is dead and it is a false teaching.

VII. Then in verse 26, works are to faith what the spirit is to the body. When the spirit leaves the body, death is the only result.

As the spirit is necessary to give the body physical life, so works are necessary to give faith spiritual life. Our works are proof of our love to God and Christ. The devil certainly has faith like so many in our world today, but it is a dead, useless and false faith never intended by God in His Word.
