"ACTIONS SPEAK #3

Welcome to our continuing series on "ACTIONS SPEAK". Today we begin part three and we should be able to conclude this series in our next time together. God bless as you read and study HIS Word. So let us begin;

II. JUDGMENT THROUGH SHAKING (He. 12:26-27)

The people of God had come into the wilderness and finally to Mt. Sinai. "The Lord also said to Moses, ‘Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments; and let them be ready for the third day, for on the third day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people" (Ex. 19:10-11). God also told Moses, "Beware that you do not go up on the mountain or touch the border of it; whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death" (Ex. 19:12). God and every Word HE spoke must be treated as holy without changing a single word.

There was a shaking at Sinai in giving the Mosaic Law of God. Shaking was also at Calvary in giving grace and the new covenant. "Now the centurion, and those who were with him keeping guard over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things that were happening, became very frightened and said, ‘Truly this was the Son of God!" (Matt. 27:54).

EX. 19:16-19 "and the whole mountain quaked violently" (vs 18)
Quaked (in the Hebrew) imperfect tense = incomplete act
This is why our text says that, "Yet once more I will shake"
So God will execute JUDGMENT THROUGH SHAKING.
When will this happen? At the Second Coming of Christ? or, as some false teachers say, will follow Christ’s 1000-year reign on earth?

(2 Peter 3:8-13) So, according to verse 10, on "the day of the Lord" "the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat." But when is the "day of the Lord?" 1Cor. 1:4-8 So the day of the Lord Jesus Christ is at His revelation.

1Thess. 5:2 God will bring JUDGMENT THROUGH SHAKING.
What will be shaken and what will remain? (Heb. 12:27)
Remember, Peter said, "The heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat."
The scriptures speak of three heavens.
1. where the birds fly
2. where the sun, moon, and stars are
3. Where God is. Paul spoke of being "caught up to the third heaven" (2Cor. 12:2).

So when Peter speaks of the "heavens will be destroyed by burning," he is certainly speaking of the first heaven where the birds fly and probably also of the second heaven where the sun, moon, and stars are.
Those temporary things will be removed. The essential and eternal will remain. – God, righteousness, holiness, purity, grace, mercy, salvation, the church (the one established on the Day of Pentecost) "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it;" (Ps. 127:1), worship, God’s Word ("Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words shall not pass away" (Matt. 24:35).

What we seem to spend the majority of our time on will be destroyed. Many people spend time and effort in the things of the world AS IF these activities were going to save them. And all the while allowing their hobbies, their children’s sports and activities to take time from their faithfulness, worship and fellowship. (I try not to ask why Christians do not show up for worship or the various meetings because I am afraid of what I will hear. "I’m just too busy!" Being Under Satan’s Yoke!

I fantasize of the day when Christians will not be too busy to attend men’s meetings, deacon and trustee meetings, when all of the ladies are involved in the Ladies’ fellowship, when Christians attend the Sunday service and Wednesday evening Prayer Meeting. But I guess it will remain just a fantasy because many remain "BEING UNDER SATAN’S YOKE."

I will close our time together for today and we will take this up next time. God bless and stay faithful to HIM and HIS WORD, not the teaching of any man or group.
