Our fourth point as we begin;
There is a clear realization that a life in sin does bring death.
This man in Luke 16 now hates sin but he lived a life of complete indifference to it. He would not even recognize it in his life, let alone the life of others.
Satan want us to accept sin in our own minds as nothing we really need to worry about.
There was another rich man who had this attitude. I encourage you to read Luke 12:16-18 to see his story.
When we are indifferent to sin, we will only give God the scraps, the left-overs; that is if we give Him anything at all!
How many have seen too late that a life of sin is no bargain? Don't wish for a second chance, take the opportunity NOW!
Our fifth point in this lesson;
There is, finally, a respect for God's Holy Word.
This man now knows the power of The Word of God that likely bored him, was of no use to him during his life.
He foolishly thought a sign might do something God's Word cannot.
Listen, listen closely; God has given you all the signs you will get! Read 1 Corinthians 1:22-23.
How can God's word become powerful in my life? Know, recognize for a certainty that it is true.
Read 1 Thessalonians 2:13, "On this account, also, we give thanks to God, without ceasing, that when you received from us this message of God, you embraced not the word of men; but, as it is in truth, The Word of God, which, indeed, works effectually in you who believe (obey)."
Never underestimate what God's Word can do in your life or the lives of others. (Isaiah 55:10-11)
When we become more concerned about the length of the sermon than the truth of the sermon, we have lost sight of the unseen!
Would the rich man ask Abraham to cut back on the length of his sermon?
If a person, YOU, could only spend five seconds in hell, there would be a change of attitude!
God would reply to us: "If they do not hear My Son in His Word, neither will they be convinced if they spend five seconds in hell!"
There is no substitute for our humbling ourselves and yielding to His Word.
Why do some not believe? Read Matthew 11:25-27.
Will this be the day you begin to see the unseen?
Hebrews 9:27, " And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment..."
Again, don't be one of those who wished they had a second chance at living for God!
May you, may your life bless God until our next time...
