Welcome back and I do hope today finds each of you doing well as you continue to serve our Great God. Today we begin the second part of our look at the two mountains contrasted. So let us begin;
Now we see the TWO MOUNTAINS CONTRASTED.
A. Sinai was in the wilderness.
When you try to live according to the Mosaic Law, you will always be
in the wilderness.
B. Zion is a city. The city of God.
Gates of precious stones; streets of gold.
A wilderness and the beautiful city of heaven certainly do show the contrast of
the Old Law and Grace.
A. Sinai represents Law.
B. Zion represents Grace.
A. At Sinai, righteous men were made to face their imperfections.
B. At Zion, unrighteous men are able to be made perfect (complete) by the blood of Christ.
A. At Sinai, salvation by works.
B. At Zion, salvation by grace through an active faith. Eph. 2:8-10
A. At Sinai, people were prevented from coming into the presence of God.
B. At Zion, all men are invited into the presence of God through His Son. “NO ONE COMES UNTO THE FATHER BUT BY ME . . .” Jn. 14:6
A. At Sinai, there were only Jews.
B. At Zion, all are invited. “Whosoever will” “For God so loved the whole world.” “not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance”
A. At Sinai, the trumpet sound caused God’s people to tremble.
B. At the last trumpet announcing the Lord’s return, God’s people will rejoice. 1Thess. 4:16
A. At Sinai, the people were forbidden to look upon God. Jn. 1:18
B. At Zion, people will be able to look upon God on His throne.
A. AT Sinai, the people washed their garments to prepare for the coming of God. Ex. 19:10
B. At Zion, we must be washed in the waters of baptism (IMMERSION) to receive the coming of God in the form of the Holy Spirit. (ACTS 2:38)
A. At Sinai, the fire that accompanied the coming of the Lord did not destroy. (Ex. 19:18, The Burning bush).
B. At Zion, the fire that accompanies the coming of the Lord will destroy all who are unfaithful and who do not believe. (2Pet. 3:10-12)
So there we see the contrast of the two mountains mentioned in God's Word. I hope you learned something and continue to grow in Christ. God bless as you continue to be a blessing to others. Until our next time, may God bless.
